Abbie

• my parents named me after one of thier favourite Beatles albums, (abby road) but changed the spelling to be a little more original. It has grown on me alot, although beware of nick names that ryhme with Abbie.....
• I think Abbie as a girl's name is fab. it is my name and I think the spelling is an English variation on the American Abby. It is a shortened form of Abigail and it means father's joy. Although my parents said I'd call myself Abigail as I got older, I never have because I like Abbie just the way it is. Most people don't shorten it, but it can be shortened to Abbs, Abbz and Abb! I still haven't met anyone with the same spelling as this, although it is quite common now!
