Acadia
- It's my daughter's name, it is the previous name of the area from Nova Scotia to New Jersey. It is different and beautiful, sounds very feminine. You can shorten it to Cady for a nickname.
- Acadia is a pretty name. There is a National Park in my home state of Maine, and it is equally beautiful. Acacia is cool too.
- Acadia Germene (a-cade-ia ger men) (the g is soft not harsh) I found the name acacia and thought it needed a little something so i added the d and i absolutely love it. The second is a french name that sounds so pretty and elagant when spoken with the correct accent.
Acadia was originally a colony in New France composed of parts of Eastern Canada and Maine. It was called Arcadia, after the mythological Greek place associated with peace and harmony. Somewhere down the line, the "r" got dropped resulting in Acadia. The name remains in Acadia National Park in Maine. Also the word "Cajun" is derived from "Acadian."
