Afton
- Afton is not used a lot, although it is an older name originating in England (there is an Afton River in England) I love the way it sounds, sweet but yet strong.
- Afton Nell: "Sweet Afton" is a poem by Robert Burns. The first time I read it I was in love with the name. Then, I heard the version sung by Nickel Creek, which only fueled my fire for the name. Nell is after both of my grandmothers, Helen and Ellen. Nell also is a form of Eleanor, which means "compassion."
The River Afton flows through Ayrshire, Scotland. It is famous for the poem "Sweet Afton" written by 18th century Scottish poet Robert Burns.
