Aisha

You can pronounce this like eye EE sha or like EYE sha. Either way, I think it's funky and beautiful.

In Arabic, Aisha means "life." In Islamic tradition, Aisha is the third wife of the prophet Muhammed, known as "The Mother of Believers." The name started being used in the USA in the 1950s, almost exclusively in the African-American community. Since then it has grown in popularity, reaching a peak in 1977 after the Stevie Wonder song "Isn't She Lovely" was released. It is about the birth of his daughter Aisha, and contains the line "Life and love are the same/ Life is Aisha The meaning of her name." It is found in multiple spellings: Ayesha, Iesha etc. The spelling Iesha got a boost in popularity in 1990 after the eponymous song by Another Bad Creation was released.
