Allan
- My dad was supposed ot be named this. Allan seems like a guy that everyone would like, just a round, lyrical sound. I also like it spelled Alun, but there's enough trouble keeping Alan, Allan, and Allen straight.
- I love this spelling because it's the Gaelic spelling. We're part Irish and we love the fact that the name is Irish also. It's very manly to me.
This is a variant of the name Alan, which is the name of a Welsh and Breton saint. It may come from the Celtic word alun, meaning "harmony." It may also be derived from ailín, a Celtic word meaning "little rock." The Allan spelling is the one used by Edgar Allan Poe.
