Amadeus

Derived from the Latin elements amare meaning "love" and deus, "god." The most famous bearer of this name was the Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), who was born Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Gottlieb Mozart. His second middle name is also recorded as Theophilus. Mozart preferred the Latin form, Amadeus to the Greek form Theophilus (from theos "god" and philos "friend"). Gottlieb is the German form Gott "god" and lieb "love."

In the U.S.A., it was first used with any regularity as a name in 1985, following the release of Amadeus, a film about Mozart (released September 1984). It possibly was also helped by the 1985 hit "Rock Me Amadeus" by Austrian artist Falco.
