Amalthea
- It has something to do with unicorns. I don't know if it's good for a little girl, but for someone around 20, it would be nice.
- I visited your site on a whim - my children were all named long ago. I was excited to find my daughter AMALTHEA's name listed (a first!) under you "unusual names" - she was indeed named for the Lady Amalthea in "The Last Unicorn" by Peter S. Beagle. She is 14 years old, and we commonly use the nickname "Molly".
Amaltheia was the name of the goat in Greek mythology who suckled the baby Zeus on ambrosia and nectar, which plentifully flowed from her horns. This name is also used for the human form the unicorn takes on in Peter Beagle's book, The Last Unicorn.
