The name Amaury first appears in the mid 1960s, but it hit its peak of popularity in 2009. Amaury is a French form of Amalric, which is made from the Germanic elements amal, "work, labour" and ric, "power." However, it is probably not this origin that contributed to the name's popularity, but the fact that it resembles amor, the Latin word for "love" (French: amour, Italian: amore).
