Amethyst

I love Amethysts, also its the name of a girl in Greek mythology and I thought that was cool. I like the nickname Thisty too.

The name Amethyst first started being used in the USA with any regularity in the last 1960s. It is the name of a purple variety of quartz, a gemstone often found in jewelry. Its names comes from Greek a "not" + methustos "drunk" - coming from the ancient Greek belief that wearing amethysts would protect the wearer against drunkenness. Often drinking vessels were made from amethyst. Amethysts are the traditional gem stones for the month of February.
