Annunziata

(ah-noon-see-AH-ta) I just love this. It's Italian, but also used in Spanish. When I chose my Spanish name in school, this is what I picked. It has 2 meanings: "Announcement" and "one sent by God."

in Italian, this name means "announced," and refers to the episode in the Bible where the Archangel Gabriel announces to the Virgin Mary that she's pregnant with the baby Jesus. Annunziato is the masculine form. It is often given to babies born around the time of the Feast of the Annunciation, which is on March 25th.
