pronounced like the fruit (apple). This is my fiance's name, and he likes it. His dad wanted no one in the world to have the same name. He was originally considering Apple, but changed the spelling to make it even more original. As a child, Apel was given many gifts relating to apples -- we still have an apple-shaped clock hanging in our kitchen! For the most part, he has enjoyed having such a distinctive name.
