Arlo

Such a beautiful, uncommon name. Means protector of the hill.

The best known Arlo in the world is probably Arlo Guthrie, the son of the American folk singer Woody Guthrie, and also a musician. The name "Arlo" is hard to pinpoint-- it is a vocabulary word for the bayberry tree in Spanish, but thisis probably not where the name comes from. Other books list it as:(German) - an alternate form of Charles, a clipped form of Carlo, (English) fortified hill (this one assumes it's a form of Harlow), etc. I like to think Mr. Guthrie named his son after the French surname Arlot, which was originally a nickname for a travelling entertainer.
