Atari

[Uh-TAR-ee] Inspired by the godfather of home video gaming. It just came to me one day that this would make a fabulous name for a girl. I suggested it to some friends of mine who all suggested that if I named my firstborn daughter this, I would invariably have to deal with smart-alec dates showing up at the door saying they "came to play Atari". I have to disagree, as by the time this child would be born and then old enough to date... let's say 20 years plus (I'm 20 now), there'll be hardly a boy under 20 who even knows of the name's origin. Not to mention that she could be called Tari for short.

Atari comes from a Japanese verb meaning "to hit the target," a fitting name for a video game company. It was founded in 1972.
