Avalon
- I like Avalon because it's feminine, but unusual, it has a pretty meaning- island, you could still use it for a tom boy, I love the way it sounds when you say it, and it has only three nicknames I can think of, Avi, Valley, and Lonni, all of which I think are nice.
- Please add my name in the Girls name list. It is Avalon and I believe it is Welsh. I was told it is the name of the island where King Arthur was laid to rest. I love my name, it is rare and beautiful, and I don't care if it was originally chosen because the midwife who delivered me in the late '50s was crazy about Frankie Avalon.
Avalon is an English form of the Welsh Ynys Afallon meaning "island of apples." It is the mythological place where King Arthur went after he died.
