Azar
- (uh-ZAR) It's Iranian for fire. I read this name in a book, and have loved it ever since.
- (A-sahr, not A-zahr or A-zayr) Spanish for "chance" or "coincidence" (el azar). I've seen it as a surname and as a brand of nuts (no comment), and it would probably be more fitting as a boy's name, but I adopted it as my screen name six years ago so I now think of it as a feminine name. I love the way it rolls off the tongue.
Azar is a girls' name in Iran, meaning "fire" in Persian. In Spanish, it is not a name, but a word meaning "random."
