• I love that it's an etymological mashup of Viatrix (Latin, "traveler, voyager") and Beata (Latin, "blessed").
• a great classic name that is underused today. It means "blessed". My great grandmother was named Beatrice, but she went by Trix.
• as in Potter. I love this name because I have exotic anglophile associations with it, also I like names with "x"s in them.
• is a playful name that sounds inviting and kind of floral, in an un-snooty way (think Beatrix Potter and gardening). I also like the fact that when the child grows up the name grows up with her, instead of remaining forever rooted in childhood. I prefer the nickname Bea over Trixie, the latter reminds me too much of the cereal.
• my last name is Beattie & I'm the last of my line & would so love to name DD this to honor my family - nn Beattie. Plus, the name has personality & is different.

This name was originally Viatrix, from Latin viator meaning "voyager." However, from an early time it was confused with beatus, Latin for "blessed" ("b" and "v" sounded similar in Latin).
