Blake
- In the book I found, Blake means: dark, attractive. I find that a compelling name for a boy ... what you'd like them to grow up to be like (as well as smart, of course). We named our son Blake Tyler ... Tyler being my husband's first name. I think it actually flows together really well.
- The name is somewhat trendy, but so cute.
- Blake Julian
this was an easy one. It has a handsome debonair gentleman ring to it. I can see him growing up to be successful with such a powerful name. It is a name that rolls off your tongue when you need to yell up the stairs.
Blake is an English surname coming from two Old English words, one meaning "black," and the other meaning "pale; white." Both were originally used as nicknames for people who had either black hair or pale skin (i.e., calling someone Black Haired John to distinguish him from the other Johns in town.) In addition, it is also used as an anglicization of the Irish surname Ó Bláithmhaic, which means "descendant of Bláthmhaic," a personal name which is made up of elements meaning "flower; blossom; fame; prosperity" and "son."
