Brendan
- A great alternative to the more popular Brandon. I believe it means "prince" in Irish Gaelic. I think it sounds strong and sensitive at the same
time, and perhaps a little artistic. It is a name that will wear well with time and that will sound good through all stages of life.
- much better than Brandon. Namesake is an Irish saint.
- sounds like a quiet baby.
- Brendan Patrick: Brendan is a good guy, sweet, honest and down-to-earth. We got married at Saint Brendan's Church - so the name has always
held a special meaning to us. We'd always agreed that if we had children - the first boy would be named Brendan. I love the name Michael (I
married one!) and think the two names go very well together! Daddy later asked that the middle name be Patrick after his Father, Francis Patrick.
Brendan is the name of an Irish saint. his name probably derives from the old Welsh word breninn meaning "prince." In Irish Gaelic, this name is found as Breannain or, more modernly, Breandán. Brendan is one of the 3 major Irish saints (the "Irish trinity" of saints), along with St. Patrick and St. Brigid.
