Briton

(Br'eye-ton)- I thought this would be a great name for a boy. It's very patriotic sounding to me and I don't know why. I don't like the spelling Brighton though, that sounds too feminine to me. There is a Briton Park somewhere- that's where I got the spelling.

Briton is usually pronounced like /BRIT tun/-- it's the name of the ethnic group the Britons that Britain and Brittany were named after. Brighton, on the other hand, is a place in England that means "Beorhthelme's settlement." Beorhthelme was an Anglo Saxon personal name made from elements beorht "bright" and helm "protection; helmet."
