Brittany

• because it is my own name and I love the way it sounds!
• it is, of course, my name. Before I was born, I was told that this name was actually fairly rare. But it seems that after I was born, the name Brittany sprung into people's minds like weeds. It's still a lovely name. When I searched the meaning of it, though, all I could discover is that it was a city in France...
• Brittany Alyce: Brittany because I just love the sound of it and Alyce is my best friend's middle name.
• Brittany Renae: our daughter, we wanted something different and was looking through a baby book and just saw this and liked the way it was unique from any name we had seen before, and no one we knew had that name.

Brittany is a region in western France that is called Bretagne in French. The Celtic language Breton is spoken there. The name itself comes from the Britons, the native people of Britain, who immigrated there to flee from the Saxons who invaded in the 5th century.
