Bronwen

Bronwen is a Welsh name, derived from the words bron "breast" and gwyn "fair-haired, white; blessed." In the USA, you often see it spelled Bronwyn, though this would be a man's name in Welsh. Welsh names ending in -wen are feminine, while ones ending in -wyn are masculine. In Welsh, there is no schwa, or neutral vowel sound like in English. Therefore, while we'd pronounced Bronwen and Bronwyn the same in English, they sound different in Welsh /BRON wen/ vs /BRON win/.
