Cadence
- I like this name because it's musical without being obvious and can be shortened to Cady if she so desires.
- It has a feminine tone, and sounds a bit formal or regal. I found this name on an "unusual name" site, and have only seen or heard the name once in a movie. It is easy to spell, and uncommon.
- My friends just named their new daughter Cadence. What a wonderful name! It flows nicely and is different without being totally unfamiliar. I great name from a couple of music lovers.
- is a way better choice than Caitlyn because it is underused but sounds quite posh.
- Cadence Emily: Cadence is an uncommon but yet not unheard of. It also has a fairly common nn, Cady. Emily is a family name that is too popular to use as a fn but yet works great as a mn.
- Cadence Emily: Combining too very popular names, I know but I just love this name for some reason.
Cadence is getting more popular for girls in the USA, probably due to its initial "cay" sound, which is very popular these days (Kaitlyn, Kaylee, Mikayla etc.). It is simply uaing the English vocabulary word as a name. In 2010, it was #83 for girls in the US top 7000 and #819 for boys.
Merriam Webster defines 'cadence' as thus:
