Caerdhwyn

(CARE-dwin)  I needed to make up a character name for a fantasy role-playing game, and I had heard something that sounded like this on an episode of "Highlander: the Series". It turned out that the name was actually Ceridwen, and is the name of a Celtic goddess of poetry (as I learned from behindthename.com), but I prefer my spelling. I think it sounds very pretty, and is definitely unique, as long as it doesn't get shortened to "Carrie"!

In Welsh, caer means "wall; city; castle" and dwyn means "to bear; bring; or to steal" (the "h" is unnecessary). This name would be pronounced /KYRE dwin/ and would mean something like "to steal a castle" or "to bring a wall."
