Caillean

(KAY lee an) Welsh; it means "white" or "pure". She was a priestess of Merlin in legends.

Cailean is actually a Scottish Gaelic man's name meaning either "whelp." Its anglicized form is Colin. I can't find any similar name in Welsh mythology or Arthurian legend. In Scottish, this name is pronounced /CAH lin/. In the Marion Zimmer Bradley novels The Forest House and Lady of Avalon, Caillean is a priestess. Though many of Bradley's characters are based on figures from legends, Caillean doesn't seem to have any mythological basis.
