Cecily
- I like St.Cecilia and I would like to honour her by naming my daughter after her, however, I don't like Cecilia but I think Cecily is a really pretty alternative.
- I really like Cecily because a) it is my name b) it is very uncommon to me, and like Cecile the French name. Cecily just has a ring to it that sounds very pretty to me.
- Cecily Abigail: Before reading the novel A Great and Terrible Beauty, I had never heard of the name Cecily. After I first saw it though, and then figured out the pronunciation (Sess-uh-lee), I fell completely in love with it's European sound (which I am crazy over), and it's oh-so-delicate and radiating beauty. As for Abigail, I've really always liked this name, but I swore to myself that I would never use it as first name because of it's very high popularity. (Also, although I really like it, it's never been one of my TOP favorites that I would use as a first name anyway.) However, my grandmother's name is Wanda Gail (Gail being her middle name), and she has proved to be a very influential woman in my life, and I love her with all of my heart. Therefore, I decided to honor her by using her name (or a form or her name) in a combo. Neither one of her names really appealed to me, but I do love Abigail (which Gail can be a nick name for), and so I decided to use it in a combo!
Cecily is the medieval English form of Cecilia.
