Ceres

Ceres Anne: I love Shakespeare... And The Tempest is one of my favorites... It sounds mysterious and enchanting.

in Roman mythology, Ceres was the goddess of the harvest, fertility, motherhood and agriculture. She is roughly equivalent to the Greek goddess Demeter. The name comes from the Indo-European root cer meaning "to grow." Fun fact: the word "cereal" is derived from her name. In Shakespeare's The Tempest, Juno, Iris and Ceres are the names of three spirits who appear as goddesses.
