Chase
- I named my son Chase because I thought it was a bit unusual but not weird. In my opinion it was hard to find a middle name to flow with it, but we did choose Tyler. Chase is a great middle name because it is one syllabil and flows well with names such as Nicholas Chase, Alexander Chase, etc. Since naming my son Chase I have many people tell me that they love the name or think it is a "nice name", rich and successful sounding. I am very happy I chose it and have yet to meet other Chase's personally. Many people say, "oh! I know a Chase" but we haven't come across the actual Chase yet. :)
- this name is rather popular, but it reminds me of a little baby in a basinet smiling and cooing. Plus, it's name that shouldnt be a name.
- I just enjoy the name Chase
- Chase Michael: I love Chase cos it sounds a bit more unusual than the traditional boys name but it isn't so off the wall that it would provoke lots of teasing. I think the middle name of Michael compliments it well.
Chase was originally a surname derived from Middle English chase meaning "hunt." As such it was either an occupational name for a hunter or a nickname for someone who was an exceptionally good hunter. Though it's been used since the 19th century, it didn't become popular until the 1980s. Its association with the Chase-Manhattan bank may have bolstered its popularity, as it rose to popularity along with other "yuppie" status-type surname names like Tiffany and Ashley. It is occasionally found for girls, often spelled Chaise, which, pronounced /SHEZ/ is the French word for "chair."
