Cherayah may be a modern form of Cherie. Or, it may be based on the Sanskrit name Shreya, meaning "auspicious; lucky." It could also be influenced by the biblical Hebrew man's Seraiah ("Yahweh is ruler") or the Arabic man's name Shariah ("noble law"), but this is unlikely.
