Chloe
- This is my name, and I was a bit taken aback at the people who dissed it. I think it is beautiful, and I would also like to say that I have only met two other Chloe's, one was 4 and the other 6. I am 17, and not one other girl in my year is called Chloe. It has been that way all through high school, there may have been Chloe's above and below me, but not in my year.
- I think this name is so cute! One of my best friends had a baby when she was only 11 (I know, it's crazy!), she had a girl and named her Chloe.
- This used to be so ecclectic. When I first came across it, I didn't even know how to pronounce it. Now it's pretty common, but still very nice. Old and mythological, yet "rediscovered." The "EE" sound at the end makes it sound cute and young.
- I knew this name all my life but never heard it pronounced any way but rhyming with low. When I discovered the perfume with the same name but pronounced differently, I fell in love with it. I don't know how to type the two dots over the "e" and writing it could get irritating trying to remember to legibly place the dots in the correct place. I would rather have an alternate spelling like Chloey or Chloee.
- I really like this name. I normally like longer names but this name really stood out to me. I have only met one Chloe (two if you count my dog, who passed away) in my life. Chloe suites people of all ages.. I'm not sure about it suiting grandmothers though!
- I was watching one of those old movies where the hero always saves the damsel in distress who in this case was a girl named Chloe. I like the name Chloe because it's an old name, and perhaps maybe someday it'll just be as popular as Jane or Margaret or Harriet.
- I think Chloe is a beautiful, sophisticated name. A Chloe would be intelligent and motivated, and would most likely grow up to be an entrepeneur.
- I really love Chloe because it is a minor Godess and I really love Mythology, but have a hard time seeing myself naming my child Persephone. Also namesake Chloe Sevigny the actress. She is quite beautiful.
- This name is unusual, but very intriguing!!! It just simply a great name!!
- Feminine, makes me think of flowers and springtime.
- Unique, but not too unique.
- Sounds like a nymph. Also a great perfume name.
- Chloe Addison: its unique
- Chloe Lynnae (klo-E Lin-A (Lynnae rhymes with Renee): i've been reading a book series called "left behind" and one of the main character's names is Chloe. The name just strikes me as one of a cheerful, peppy girl who can turn anyone's smile upside down. Lynnae comes from my mom's friend's daughter. It sounds so sweet and elegant and flows well with Chloe.
- Chloe Michelle: It is a nice sounding, sweet name
- Chloe Olivia: I love the name Chloe because it means "blooming, flowering," and that's exactly what a baby girl does! I like Olivia as the middle name because the vowels "flow" so well together.
In Greek mythology, Chloe was one of the epithets of the goddess Demeter. The name comes from ancient Greek meaning "green shoot," referring to the fact that Demeter was the goddess of the harvest and fertility. As a girls' name, it's been used in English since the 17th century when the Puritans picked out obscure bible names to give to children. In the New Testament Chloe is briefly mentioned in an epistle of Paul. Sometimes you see Chloe spelled Chloë, with a diaresis on the "e." This is usually the French spelling. The accent mark is used to let the reader know that the "e" is pronounced and not silent. Chloe has made the top 10 in name popularity in recent years, also found in spellings like Khloe, Kloey, Cloie, Chloey etc.
