Dahlia
- think its a pretty floral name that isn't used often enough.
- I love this name. Of course, the flower comes to mind, and it's a bit more unique than your 'traditional' feminine flower names of Rose, Violet, etc. People usually can say it and spell it correctly, but occassionally the spelling Dalia comes up.
The Dahlia flower is a genus of flowers native to central America. They were named for Swedish Botanist Anders Dahl (1751-1789). As a name, it is sometimes used interchangeably with the Hebrew name Dalia/Dalya, which means "branch."
