A deacon is an official in a church; though the duties of this position varies from religion to religion. It is also an English surname denoting one who as a deacon. As a first name, it first entered popular culture as the name of Ted's younger brother in the 1989 film Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure. Another Deacon, Deacon Frost, was a character in the 1998 film Blade.
