Dulcinea is how Don Quixote refers to his lady love in Miguel Cervantes' novel Don Quixote. The character's real name is Aldonza Lorenzo del Toboso, and she never actually appears in the novel, she is just referred to as a paragon of beauty. Dulcinea is a fancied-up version of the Spanish "dulce" meaning "sweet."
