Dymphna

I took this name for my confirmation, it was the name of an Irish saint whom I thought was really cool. She's the patron saint of the mentally ill and abused children. Its Irish and means "poetess." I love it.

Dymphna is an anglicization of the Irish name Damhnait. Damhnait is derived from the Irish Gaelic element damh meaning "ox; stag," + a diminutive ending. St. Dymphna is an Irish saint who was martyred in the 7th century. She is the patron saint of people afflicted with nervous and mental afflictions.
