Edmund
- this 'blessed protector' will stand at your side, faithful and true. Classier than "Eddie" and not as tough-sounding as Edgar, this is an under-used variety of the "Ed" names. A candidate for my third son.
- most people seem to think this is an old ugly name, but I think it's great! I've loved it ever since I read The Chronicles of Narnia, Edmund is one of my favorite characters in it. He was a very strong boy who overcame his jealousy and anger.
- If I ever have a fourth son, Edmund will likely be his name. Since childhood, I have adored for reasons that still perplex me. Perhaps because of Edmund from the Chronicles of Narnia?
Edmund is derived from the Old English elements ead meaning "wealthy; blessed" and mund "protector; guardian." It was brought to England by the Normans.
