Electra
- When I first heard this name, it sounded too flashy; kinda "Las Vegasy". But when you think about it, there are tons of reasons why it's great: It's very original (I don't think a girl with this name would be refered to as "Electra P." or "the blonde Electra"), but at the same time it's easy to pronounce and spell. It has a nice sound to it; crisp, but the "E" at the beginning and especially the "a" at the end, keeps it feminine. Go ahead, say it a couple times and get a feel for it....... Electra, Electra, Electra, Electra..........
- Just a fabulous name, so strong.
- character in a book i read when i was a child.
- I like this because it sounds very retro and hip. It's quite unusual, it reminds me of rock and electric guitars - my kind of music!
Let's hope that a child named Electra won't grow up to have an Electra Complex: a psychological term used for "The unconscious tendency for a daughter to be hostile to her mother and overly attached to her father." Sort of like an Oedipus complex for girls. It's named for a tragic Greek character who, with her brother Orestes, took revenge against their mother and stepfather for their murdered father.
