Eli
- I like it pronounced the authentic Hebrew way, AY-lee.
- Under used and under appreciated. It has a classic and artistic flare about it at the same time, and will stand the test of time. I think it also sounds best as a full name, and not a nickname for Elijah or Elias.
- Simple with a great sound.
- It is the name of the brother of my hero, Peyton Manning. And since the name Peyton is now WORN OUT, this is the next best thing. I also like its Southern flair.
- actually I like it because it was the name of a cute character on tv! But sounds nice too
In the Old Testament, Eli means "ascent." Most Elis are based on this meaning. In English it is sometimes used as a diminutive form of Elijah or Elias. In modern Hebrew, Eli also means "my God."
