Latin and French meaning chosen. Which is why I decided to name my child this name if I have a girl.

According to one site, Ellita is a French name meaning "elite." This sounds hugely dubious to me. I found another reference in the spelling Elita, in which it is an unknown Latvian name. A quick search shows that most Ellitas have Spanish last names. Since -ita is a common feminine diminutive ending in Spanish, I'd guess that Ellita is a short form of a Spanish name beginning with Ell- or having -ell- in it somewhere. Maybe Isabella? Hm. Isabel is the more common Spanish form though...
