Emily
- It is very common, but my best friend's name is Emily and she's practically my sister. I love how it sounds old-fashioned, but not stuffy and dusty.
- has always been one of my favorites, it's short, sweet-sounding, and flows well. Not too common in Germany, although I gather it's rather common in English-speaking countries
- Just so nice! also with nn Emma and Emmy
- Nice, proper name. Had a friend with this name who was smart, sweet, but could be fierce if she needed.
- I like Emily because I love names ending with a "ly, lee, li" sound. Emily is classic, beautiful, and unmistakenly feminine. I don't care if it's the #1 name of 1999, either! I live near Portland, OR and only have heard of a couple Emilys, so at the time I didn't think it was that common.
- Emily Alexis: I like the flow of this name, and Alexis really isn't too common for a middle name, as Emily is for a first. It sounds elegant and fun all at the same time.
- Emily Claire: I have always loved the name Emily, and Claire was my best friend's name who died when a DUI driver crashed into her car
- Emily-Jayne: This is actually my name which my mother read in a novel while pregnant with me. The combination of emily, a name not popular in Australia when I was born, with the unusual spelling a jayne make it an artistic and romantic name. I have always loved my name and never suffered from being called Emily D. or F. etc. I grew up meeting only one other Emily.
- EMILY JORDYN: popular but the jordyn makes it pretty
- Emily Kameryn: I love the name Emily b/c it seems very 'sweet & innocent" and Kameryn is a very 'trendy' name for girls!
- Emily Lauren: Emily sound like a sweet little girl's name and these two names compliment each other well
- Emily Mae: Emily was my best friend in elementary school, and I could not find a thing about her that I didn't find enchanting. I know it's a super trendy name, but I LOVE it. Mae is my mother and my mother in law's middle name. They both hate it, but I think it's lovely and will be a perfect tribute to them when I have a daughter.
- Emily Mae: This is my name. I love it because the spelling for Mae is a bit more uncommon than May and the two sound lovely together. Also, because my name means "Artistic (or industrious, depending on the language) Maiden"
- Emily Selene: I like the name Emily Selene because Emily is my name and Selene refers to the moon and my favorite time is night time
Emily is an English name, which comes from the Latin name Aemilia. This name comes from a Roman family name, which probably stems from the word aemulus meaning "rival." It is often confused with the name Amalia, which has an altogether different root, from a germanic word meaning "work" (hence many name books listing it as meaning "industrious.")
