- Old fashioned names are coming back into vogue, in my opinion, as a direct backlash to the surname for girls craze of the 90s. We swung the
pendulum far away from feminine, moving towards more androgynous surnames for girls and now it's swinging right back to ultra feminine. This is a
very pretty, yet strong name I could see sliding right into the popular old fashioned name list. I personally like it pronounced emma-LINE (as in the word "line" and not "leen" or "lynn"), but it is open for interpretation. It's a great alternative to the uber-popular Emma or Emily.
- It is very classy and hardly used. The nickname Emma is great.
