Erica

• When I hear the name Erica, I am reminded of a woman in my design studio in college. She had a twin sister named Heather, which seemed appropriate, as her father was a botanist (Erica is the botanical Latin name for Heather). It made me wonder what other botanical name pairings there are, and wondered if her twin were a boy if he'd be named Heath. Alternately, if she were part of a triplet of girls, the third girl could be Heide (German for heath/heather). There is a great opportunity for botanical Latin names as first names, although going through life as Arctostaphylos or Amorphophallis is unfathomable.
• Erica Britt: I think that this name is unique,unusual, and gives a young girl a sense of strength and pride.

• Erica Rose: I really like this name. It reminds me of a smart, friendly type of person who is has her head tightly screwed on. I have never met anyone by this name so although it's not unique it's not overly common, which I believe is a good attribute to a name. Rose is my favourite middle name. It portrays sheer elegance and femininity.

Erica is a feminine form of Eric, which is an english spelling of the Old Norse, Erik. Erik comes from and element meaning either "one" or "ever," and one meaning "ruler." Erica's popularity also owes itself to the fact that erica is the genus of the heather plant (although this is pronounced /eh REE ka/).
