Finley
- Also spelled Finlay, this is my absolute favourite boy's name. It makes me surprised I'm even submitting it for others to find. It's just that if one dear parent sees this name and likes it and therefore names her son Finley as opposed to yet another Kaiden/Jaden/Hayden/Braidyn, it will have been worth it. Finley has a soft sound without sounding too feminine. It has strong Gaelic sound without being hard to pronounce or confusing and it fits in with the surnames as first names trend that is sweeping the Western world. Plus, the short form Finn is super cool.
- (or Finlay)I love the sound of it! I picture a very wild and funny kid with this!
Finley Jack William: Finley is a name that is a little bit unusual and it can go by the nickname Finn, I think it's cute. The first time I heard this name was when Holly Marie Combs gave birth to son, Finley Arthur Donoho. Ever since I heard that name, every time people ask me what name I think I may give to my baby, I say : "Maybe Finley!". Jack is the name of the character that John Ritter played in Three's Company (Jack Tripper). I wasn't born when Three's Company was on air, but now I have all the seasons on DVDs and when I have free time to watch TV, that's what I listen to, (it's my favorite TV show) and Jack is so funny and I just love him and if could meet a man like him in real life, I would marry him for sure. I want my boy to be as crazy, cute and beautiful as Jack, and John, at the same time, it's also to honor that brilliant and marvelous actor who unfortunately died in 2003. And finally William, it's the name of a boy that I went to school with and it's also the name of the new nephew of my friend and the name of one of the babies of a teacher that I had in 6th grade and it always was a name that I loved.
More commonly found as Finlay, this is a Scottish surname. It is an anglicization of the name Mac Fhionnlaigh, which comes from a personal name composed of the elements fionn, "fair-haired; white" and laogh which can mean either "calf" or "warrior." Other anglicization of this surname are: McKinley, Kinley, and Findlay.
