I picked this name out of a name book pretty randomly. I needed a name for a fanfic character and so I just picked the first name that sounded like it would fit her personality. I didn't really think much of it either way. It's really started to grow on me, though - it's got the feel of a flower name (after all, a garland is a wreath of flowers) but it's not nearly as common.
