Gwyddion

(can also be spelled with only one "d") This is my husband's religious name and I find it VERY cool. It's Welsh and babynames.com lists it as meaning "God of Magic", though that is not the reason my husband chose it as his religious name. My husband and I are both huge fans of Celtic name (Irish, Scottish, and Welsh), and we are also Arthurian buffs. According to the fiction book, The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley (my favorite book), Gwydion was King Arthur's birth name. My husband saw the name elswhere with two "D's" and prefered it that way (even though I tried to explain to him that two "D's" in the Welsh language makes a "th" sound... he spells it with two "D's" but pronounces it the same as it's pronounced with one "D"). Gwyddion has a very "mystical" and "magical" sound to me. It, like all Welsh names, also reminds me of the names used in The Lord of the Rings.

In Welsh, Gwydion (pronounced something like /gwih DEE on/) means "speaking poetry" and was the name of a mythological demi-god.
