Harlow(e) was a name first used with any regularity in the early 21st century. It came to public attention when American actor Patricia Arquette named a daughter Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane in 2003 and then American celebrities Nicole Richie and Joel Madden named a daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden in 2008. It was probably inspired by American film star Jean Harlow (born Harlean Harlow Carpenter 1911-1937)
