Harrison
-
- my mother's madden name, i just always thought it would be cute to name a little boy.
- I think this name is distinguished and unique, two of my top criteria!
- I love the name Harry, but want something longer that gives a person options. Harrison is a great alternative to Harry! Will call him Harry at home and he can use Harrison at school or in the workplace.
- In honor of the late great Beatles member, George Harrison. His music has inspired my life in so many ways. What better way to honor him than to name a child after him.
- not overused
- A wonderful name, It's dignified, cool, and manly all at the same time. It is a name that sounds good on a baby, five year old, school aged child, and a man. Can be shortened to Harry, which I think is a really nice "everyday" name. The association with Harrison Ford is a good one.
- Harrison Holt: Our son's name is Harrison Holt. I always liked the name Harrison but thought of it as a middle name but when I found out I was pregnant and having a boy. My husband decided to uphold the family tradition of Holt as a middle name so we picked Harrison as a first name and Holt as a middle name. And we don't call him Harry it is cute and all but we named him Harrison not Harry.
Harrison comes from an English surname meaning "Harry's son." It was popular as a first name in the late 1800s, but then enjoyed a revival in the late 20th-early 21st century probably inspired by both the American actor Harrison Ford and the trend of using WASPY/presidential surnames as first names (i.e., Madison, Tyler, Taylor).
