Hazel
- It has that innocent, classic appeal to it. Cool in a sweet-old-lady way.
- I was surprised to see that recently this name has risen in popularity. It's a color name so it would fit in nicely along with peers named Violet and Bleu, but it also has a cozy, sweet feel. Maybe it's the soft Z sound.
- This one may be old-fashioned, but it's a cute, feminine name - angelic almost. As much as I like it, it might not fit girls whose eyes AREN'T that color.
- I like this name because it is an older name that is making a comeback. I like how it sounds and prefer it to it's contemporary, Heather. I think a Hazel would be sassy, yet down to earth, without being plain Jane.
Hazel is the name of a tree, and also a greenish light-brown color. As a name it was first used in the 19th century when names of plants and flowers first came into vogue (i.e., Daisy, Violet, Bryony etc.). The hazel tree is often grown for its nuts, which are edible.
