Hector

Hector is the English form of the Greek name Hektor, which means "holding fast." In classical mythology, it was the name of a hero of the Trojan War who was eventually slain by Achilles.

Hector has been used in Scotland since at least the middle ages, where it was used as an anglicization of Eachann, a Gaelic name which is derived from the words meaning "brown" and "horse."
