Henry

• This name seems to be strong and gentle at the same time. I think that's something I look for a lot in names.
• It feels soft spoken but intelligent.
• very old fashioned but a strong classic name
• A classic name that needs to make a comeback.  This was also the name of my beloved grandfather, who I will honor by giving this name as a middle name to my first son.
• This, in my opinion, is the most classic and masculine name that exists. I love the strength it implies and the steady honesty you hear in this name. My most favorite name in the world.
• I love the name Henry. It has such class to it. I personally think Henry is the classiest boy’s name I know of, and I’ve thought of it that way for a long time. It’s probably my favorite boy’s name. If not, it’s high on the list.
• Henry Nathaniel: I originally loved Harry (still love it) but I thought it might be harder to get along with that name in the US than in the UK because of the whole 'hairy' thing.  So then I started thinking Henry and now I love it more!  Nathaniel is for one of my favorite authors, Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Henry comes from the name Heimrich, which is composed of the Germanic elements heim meaning "home" and ric meaning "power; rule". Popular in England since the Norman invasion, it has spawned the once-diminutive form Harry which is now a name on its own as well. Click here for more forms of Henry.
