Ian
- I know a family who recently named their son John just because they wanted him to have a name honored his grandfather. I found out this little boy's grandfather was named Hans. All I could think was, "But what about Ian?!" I don't know any more about the family so maybe they had their reasons for not choosing Ian, but I for one think that it is a much better alternative to plain ol' John. Ian has class and is still fun. Ian ages, but stays youthful in spirit. Ian needs a little more recognition here.
- it's short, different, and easy to say
- the Scottish version of John. I just like this name a lot, it sounds strong, but still gentle and sweet.
- Was the first name of a lead singer in an english band in late 80's
Ian is an anglicization of Iain, the Scottish form of John.
