Jacoby

I recently read a book in which Jacob was the main character, and now love the name. However, it is quite popular, so I thought that Jacoby made a good alternative. It is strong sounding but more unusual and (I think) less snobby.

Jacoby was originally a surname derived from Jacob. It started being used regularly as a first name in the late 20th century as an alternative form of Jacob one that more readily lends itself to the diminutive form "Coby." It is also found Jakobe to give the pet form Kobe, a la basketball star Kobe Bryant.
